LCOS as Spatial Light Modulator

Abstract:

LCOS used to be mainly used for projection display in past 20 years. In recent years, more researchers  in Photonics turn to SLM (Spatial Light Modulator) for applications in optical communication, computation, storage, beam shaping, or  holography. This talk will cover some of the recent developments of LCOS & its advantages as SLM.

Bio:

Dr. Hsu is the COO of Jasper Display Corp. Before this , he was working in MEMS including Qualcomm MEMS Technology, Delta & Spatial Photonics. He was the cofounder & Presidentof eLCOS Microdisplay. Prior to that, he held management positions at Aurora System, S-Vision , and nCHIP., and  engineering positions  at LLNL & Intel. He has over30 years of experience in  business development,  customer engineering

support,  foundry management, technology development and transfer, and thin film-fab start up  for Semiconductor companies  and IC

design houses.  His areas of product expertise include MCM, MEMS and LCOS.  He holds patents on wafer planarization, eBook, MEMS & battery technology.

Dr. Hsu graduated with a Mechanical Engineering degree from National Taiwan University, received  an M.S. in Material Science from Brown University and a Ph.D. in Engineering Material from the University of

Maryland. He is a founding member and senior advisor for the Chinese American Semiconductor Professional Association (CASPA). He is also the Lifetime member of EOA.
