 From Tech bubble to Financial bubble. What could be next? 

Abstract: 
 

The talk will cover the followings:
1)  What is a bubble economy?
2)  How does the bubbles form and bust?
3)  Is a bubble a crisis or an opportunity?
4)  Can we forecast a bubble?
5)  What could be the themes of the next bubble?
6)  My favorite potential Photonic technologies.

 
Speaker Bio: 

Dr. Kao-Chih Syao(ʒDzʿ) received his B.S. in physics from National Taiwan University, Taipei, Taiwan, Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI and Master of Finance from Haas school of business of U.C. Berkeley. He conducted researches on 10Gb/s electroabsorption modulated lasers in Bell Labs, Lucent Technologies. In year 2000, he received Technology Achievement Award from SPIE. He also cofounded Cito Optronics specializing in low cost laser diode development. He was a faculty member of Department of Electrical Engineering and Institute of Photonics Technologies of National Tsing-Hua University, Hsinchu, Taiwan. In 2006, he switched his career to finance and currently he is VP of US investment solutions in Citi Private Bank where he provides investment advisory services to high net worth clients. He holds CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) and FRM (Financial Risk Manager) designations. He is also series 7 and 66 licensed.
