                       Development of Automation Test Systems in the Fiber Optics Industry

 

Abstract:

Development of Automation Test Systems in the Fiber Optics Industry is a crucial issue in fabricating high volume, high quality and low cost fiber optical components to speed up the development of optical communication networks across the globe.

This lecture will discuss the variety of challenges in test system development; solutions of hardware and software; analyze the pros and cons of different software languages and database systems; and introduce the latest test methodologies in high-speed transceiver.

Biography:

Dr. Henry Wu is currently working as a Senior Engineer in Test Development and Integration in Finisar Corp. With over eight years experience in the optical industry, Dr. Wu has held engineering positions in firms such as Lightwaves 2020, AFOP, C Speed and Inlight Communications. Prior his career in fiber optics, Dr. Wu worked as a Senior Software Engineer in Intraware, a software company.

Dr. Wu received his Ph.D. from Chinas Jilin University in 1988 where he concentrated on Laser Spectroscopy research. From 1991 to 1994, Dr. Wu continued his academic career as a Visiting Scientist and Post-Doctorate Fellow at MIT and the University of Texas at Austin where he conducted research in the Femtosecond Laser System and Ultra-Fast Chemistry Dynamics.
